The Disintegration of the System

Franco Giorgio Freda

Nazi-Maoism · 1969 · 117 pages

The Disintegration of the System (1969) is a political and philosophical work by Franco Giorgio Freda, originally published in Italian as La disintegrazione del sistema. The text presents a radical critique of bourgeois civilization, capitalism, liberal democracy, and the political institutions of postwar Europe. Drawing on traditionalist philosophy, revolutionary nationalism, and elements of Marxist economic criticism, Freda advocates the destruction of the existing political and economic order and its replacement with an authoritarian, anti-capitalist state. The work proposes a united revolutionary front between elements of the far right and far left, particularly those sharing opposition to Western capitalism and the established political system. Associated with the emergence of Nazi-Maoism in Italy, it became an influential text within the radical neo-fascist movements of the late 1960s and 1970s.
