Pietro Gorgolini

Pietro Gorgolini (1891–1973) was an Italian journalist, writer, publisher, and early theorist of Fascism. Born in Castrovillari, he served as an officer during the First World War before becoming involved in nationalist and anti-Bolshevik politics. In April 1919, he participated in the establishment of one of the earliest Fascist organizations in Camerino. He later became active in Fascist journalism and publishing, contributing to the development and dissemination of the movement's political doctrine.

Gorgolini is principally known for Il fascismo nella vita italiana (1922), published in English as The Fascist Movement in Italian Life (1923), with a preface by Benito Mussolini. He also authored La rivoluzione fascista (1923) and Il fascismo spiegato al popolo (1925). In 1923, he founded the National Syndicate of Authors and Writers and subsequently established the journal Il Nazionale, which addressed Fascist culture, corporatism, and political thought. Following the Second World War, he largely withdrew from public life. He died in Ostia on October 4, 1973.
